Hot Mess -- Cobra Starship

  • Song: Hot Mess
  • Artist: Cobra Starship
  • Album: Hot Mess
  • Rating 4 Stars
Cobra Starship has described their music as "Justin Timberlake Punk," and their 3rd album and title track, Hot Mess, is certainly no exception.
Cobra says their name within the first five seconds of the song, but far from being a "hot mess," this song is bound to be a "hot track" from bars and clubs to a teenager's bedroom. Hot Mess is a catchy, fast-paced song that has a nice sound and is great to dance to. Like Prostitution Is The World's Oldest Profession (And I Dear Madame, Am A Professional),* this song starts off with plenty of synth-beats. The most memorable part of the song is definitely the chorus, where Gabe** sings, "Cos you're a hot mess and I'm lovin' it hell yes!"
Cobra executed the song beautifully, and while it hasn't officially been released,*** it's plain that this song is sure to make an impact.
*A song from Cobra Starship's previous album, ¡Viva la Cobra!
**Gabe Saporta is now the lead singer of Cobra Starship, and previously the lead singer of Midtown
***To promote their new album, Cobra Starship gave exclusive permission to Entertainment Weekly to post the song on their website
